Bioderma Launches French Pharmacy Perfection in Ireland

When news came of French Pharmacy brand Bioderma launching in Ireland, I was not the only one to greet the news with giddy excitement. A brand that has been loved not only by beauty writers and skincare fanatics but top models and makeup artists alike, its arrival on our shores means if you love high quality skincare and haven't heard of the brand already, now is the time to investigate.

Bioderma has been one of the most lusted after brands by beauty lovers for a very long time. The epitome of skin-friendly, problem-solving, miracle product skincare, the French Pharmacy brand has been spoken about for years by makeup artists, models and beauty writers due to it effectiveness and the high quality of its range. Backstage photos from fashion weeks often feature the famous pink cap of Bioderma's cult product the Sensibo H2O Micelle Solution. Trips to France or other European countries that sold the brand resulted in a suitcase packed full of Bioderma products to bring home.

Now, finally, Bioderma has launched in Ireland and is swiftly becoming available in pharmacies throughout the country, alongside long-time French Pharmacy staple brands Vichy and La Roche Posay and I have to say, seeing the stand appear in my own local pharmacy, I was so excited. Until now the only place I could find it to buy was a UK website but the sterling exchange rate and postage made this extremely affordable brand almost twice the price. The flush of excitement when I was away on holidays when I sought after and found Bioderma on sale on the shelves of a pharmacy was finally replicated at home.

Bioderma is such a high quality brand and has garnered a great reputation for many reasons but chief among those has to be their Michelle Solutions. In the past twelve months I have seen many brands jump on this band wagon, some to great effect in fact, but it's hard to beat Bioderma Sensibo H2O, which I discussed in my article on French Pharmacy here.

Established in the late 1970s by a pioneering pharmacist called Jean-Noël Thorel, Bioderma's main focus has always been innovating skin-friendly, dermatologist-approved products that are made for specific skin complaints.

Broken up into four coloured categories the brand create treatment products for Dry, Very Dry to Atopic Skin (Blue - Atoderm); Sensitive Skin (Pink - Sensibo); Combination to Oily Skin (Green - Sébium); and Sun Protection (Orange - Photoderm). I have been using the Sensibo Michelle Solution for the past year and it is the most skin-friendly cleanser you could use. It's so mild it's like water on your skin but at the same time thoroughly cleanses dirt, oil and makeup in a flash. In terms of makeup removal it is by far a much better option that facial wipes; much better for your skin and a lot more effective too.

Bioderma's range that just launched here is not vast; it contains essential skincare products for each complaint or skin type. There is nothing faddy about this brand at all and it has been focused from the very start on dermatologist researched products of the highest quality that help any skin complaint.

Their sun range is really amazing and broad covering sun protection for kids ]to many skin-friendly sun care products for ultimate skin protection during the summer months. I love the Photoderm Bronz SPF 50 (€22.00) pictured above, which carries factor 50 high sun protection for all skin types with the added bonus of tan enhancer and extender for those who have the type of skin that tans.

Another gem is the Sebium Pore Refiner (€18.50) which is an excellent smoother for tightening pores and refining the texture of the skin and is great to wear on its own or under makeup.

From the Sensibo family I also tried the Sensibo AR BB Cream (€17.50) which works not just as the perfect lighter alternative to foundation but it also soothes and hydrates your skin while protecting it from UV with SPF30. The BB Cream covers redness, smoothes your skin, and provides a lovely radiant glow. BB Creams from brands that specialize in skincare are always winners with me because they work on improving your skin as well as covering up any imperfections superficially and they're not packed full of unnecessary ingredients like fragrances that might irritate sensitive skin.

Finally, another great aspect of Bioderma is that the whole range is so reasonably priced and, unlike many French Pharmacy brands, it matches the prices on the continent so you can get the cult Sensibo H2O Micellar Solution for €5.50 for 100ml and €11.50 for 250ml. I will be featuring a lot more of the brand now that you can finally buy it here so stay tuned for more in-depth reviews from herein out!

Bioderma launched across Ireland in June and is now available from a wide range of pharmacies nationwide.
